
ingredients: 8 oz (=220 gr) of italian provolone cheese

... or the american one

8 oz (=220 gr) of mozzarella

8 oz (=220 gr) of ham

1 lb (=500 gr) of ground beef (20% fat)

1 onions, 2 carrots

1 glass of red wine

place the ground beef, between an aluminum foil ...

... and a foil of parchment paper

press the beef with a rolling pin

add 1 teaspoon of salt

and ground pepper

and keep pressing the beef, until it is 1/4 in (=1/2 cm) thick

add a layer of ham

and a layer of provolone and mozzarella cheese

pull and push the aluminum foil

and roll the beef

squeeze to compact the beef with the other ingredients

push on both sides

make sure there is no cheese or ham spilling out

a perfect cilinder

add salt and pepper on the outside

in a saucepan add the chopped onion, a pinch of salt

add 3 tbsp of oil and keep the flame on low

add the sliced carrots

add the beef, let it cook for few minutes

turn it very very gently

on all sides

add the glass of wine

and add water to cover 50% of the meat

cut the potatoes into big chunks

add them to the saucepan

bring the water to a gentle simmer

and let it cook for 40 minutes

from this....

... to this, after 40 minutes

remove the meat and let the sauce boil down

until it has a nice thick consistency

let the meatloaf rest for 10-15 min

... and slice it

add the gravy sauce

grab a bottle of wine...

... and ...
